We are currently doing a third edit on a client’s book and we are so excited we can hardly stand it. The book has gotten so good! This author has worked long and hard to get here; the book has been in the works for decades. We are full of admiration for this author’s determination and long-term view.
This is the kind of effort it often takes to produce something really good, as well as a sort of dumb faith. So when you start asking yourself, have I finished this book yet, watch this:
This really gives me hope. I’ve only been working on a book off and on for two years. I need patience and hope. This gives me some.
Thanks!
Terry
This past June I picked up a book that I wrote during March-June, 2011, mostly during the hours of 4:00 am to 7:30 am. After “finishing” it, I was very happy with it but I had no luck in interesting an agent in it, so I shelved it and went on to other projects. When I picked the book up again after 12 months, I decided to make some major changes. I also began cycling through the book editing, revising, adding, and polishing, as I went. On each cycle I also worked to make use of what I pick up from your columns (such as participial phrases). In the last 4 days I made a big improvement to the ending. I am in no hurry to “finish” the book because it keeps growing and improving.
